ALSO reports large increase in net profit


Emmen LU – The net profit of ALSO Holding AG increased by 30 percent in 2020. The wholesale and logistics company for IT technology hopes to benefit from the acceleration of digitization in the current year as well and grow further.


The net profit of ALSO Holding AG increased by 130 million euros in 2020. This corresponds to profit of 30 percent. According to a press release from the company, sales grew by 11.3 percent overall to 11.9 billion euros. Growth was highest in consumption-based cloud business at 38.2 percent. In comparison, sales growth for the business area of transactional supply was 11.8 percent and 8.9 percent for solutions.


Cash and cash equivalents increased by 38.3 percent to 482.2 million euros. EBITDA also increased versus the previous year from 198.7 to 227.5 million euros. ALSO anticipates an increase of 240 to 255 million euros for the current year. In terms of pure organic growth, ALSO expects return on capital employed (ROCE) of over 20 percent, with this being over 15 percent when taking potential acquisitions into account.


The CCO of ALSO Schweiz AG, Tom Brunner, explains: “The increased volume in commercial transactions was heavily driven by coronavirus and not actually our earnings.” He adds that the leaders of the company are very grateful for the good result and that the company must “create jobs that have been lost in other industries.” He goes on to say that the company is particularly proud of its service innovations within the Internet of Things and in the area of ready-to-use IT production.


Gustavo Möller-Hergt, CEO of ALSO Holding AG, is quoted in the press release saying that over the past ten years, the company has laid solid foundations for further expansion, adding: “The foundation of Remote Communication, which will shape the New and Next Normal, the pandemic and post-pandemic phase, is IT technology.”
