Geistlich Pharma expands in Japan

Geistlich Pharma has founded a subsidiary in Japan. The Wolhusen-based company intends to strengthen sales of its products in the country in addition to coordinating training and further training courses.

Geistlich Pharma has been offering products such as Geistlich Bio-Oss, a bone substitute material for dental applications, and Geistlich Bio-Gide, a collagen membrane for oral tissue regeneration, in Japan for many years. Now, however, these products are to be sold and distributed by a Japanese subsidiary, as revealed in a press release. This will be the 11th subsidiary to be integrated within the Group structure.

Paul Note, CEO of Geistlich Pharma, was quoted in the press release: “A proprietary subsidiary in Japan is a visible sign of our clear commitment to the growth region of Asia. Japan is set to become another strong pillar within our network”.

The new subsidiary will not only be responsible for the sale and distribution of Geistlich Pharma products, but will also coordinate a “comprehensive system of training and further training courses” in the field of regenerative dentistry. Geistlich Pharma already offers such courses at other locations. They should help particularly in the application of the company’s products.

Asia is an important market for Geistlich Pharma. The company’s double-digit growth last year can be attributed to positive results in the European and Asian markets.

Geistlich Pharma is headquartered in Wolhusen and forms part of Geistlich Holding, which for its part is headquartered in Schlieren ZH.
