University of Lucerne launches Master’s in Economics and Management

From this autumn, the University of Lucerne is offering a new Master’s program in Economics and Management. Its students will work closely with companies in the region. The new degree has also attracted international lecturers.

The Faculty of Economics and Management was established at the University of Lucerne back in 2016. In addition to its Bachelor’s program, it will be offering a Master’s degree to students as of this autumn. Students can choose freely from the offered modules or opt for one of three specializations. These are Political Economics, Market-oriented Management or Health Economics and Management, as Christoph A. Schaltegger, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, explained on the University’s website.

One special feature of this faculty is its close ties with business, which will also be an important aspect of the new Master’s program. Students will attend case study seminars where they will have the opportunity to interact with CEOs and managing directors directly. Schaltegger says that a new website is also planned “where companies will be able to find information on different ways they can get involved”. In tandem with the start of the Master’s degree, a new Center for Digital Marketing and Data Analytics is being created, which will focus on current topics related to the digital transformation and foster active cooperation with companies.

At present, Schaltegger says the course planning for the three specializations is being finalized. Augmenting its own offering, the University has also “attracted renowned lecturers from other universities” within Switzerland as well as also other European countries and the USA.
